Cheshire Police Authority fully supports the introduction of the Policing Pledge, which sets out in clear terms the level of service that local people can expect from their police service.
A copy of the pledge can be accessed by clicking here.
The Authority will monitor compliance with the Pledge through regular meetings of its Performance Panel. In addition to monitoring how the Constabulary responds to the Pledge, the Authority itself will constantly review how it provides services to the public to ensure that they too are compliant with the Pledge.
The Authority presented the Policing Pledge to the round of 'Have Your Say' meetings in January 2009, and further information on progress against delivering the Pledge was sent out in the July 2009 edition of 'Your Policing', distributed to all households in Cheshire.
In addition, a leaflet entitled "The Policing Pledge - Our Commitment" has been distributed to 350,000 households throughout Cheshire in free newspapers. If you would like a copy of the leaflet please let us know by calling us on 01244 614002 or by email to police.authority@cheshire.pnn.police.uk
Monitoring Compliance against the Pledge
The Authority, through its bi-monthly Performance Panel, receives a report from the Chief Constable on the Constabulary's delivery of the Policing Pledge. This is being done through a variety of ways, including 'mystery shopper' exercises to test compliance in responding to queries from the public and the way information is readily available in police stations; the analysis of the time taken to respond to both 999 and non-emergency calls; and the development of communication packages with the public to ensure the details of everyone's neighbourhood policing teams are known.
The Authority continues to support the Constabulary in developing the Pledge and will play its part in ensuring that the people of Cheshire continue to receive an efficient and effective police service.
